Maddie Sifantus is the Acting Director of MUSE and is working to revitalize this important organization. Reverend Maddie Sifantus, Affiliate Minister at the First Parish in Wayland (MA) and Consulting Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Wakefield (MA), is the founder/director emerita of the Golden Tones, a sixty member elder chorus. She retired from the Golden Tones after twenty years in August 2008. During her direction, the Golden Tones grew from a local organization to one recognized nationally as a Best Practices of the National Endowment for the Arts and with recognition in the National Center for Creativity and Aging’s Creativity Matters: the Arts and Aging Toolkit.
Maddie is a professional singer who had classical training and has performed many different types of music during her career, from rock to folk to classical. In addition to ministry, she freelances as a singer at many churches in New England for weddings, memorial services, and as soloist for special worship services. She does oratorio work, as well as performs with an accompanist at various functions, nursing homes, and social clubs, often performing with accordion player Richard Conti. Maddie is a founding member of the vocal group TVS (The Vocal Section) which performs at nightclubs, faith communities, and functions in the Northeast, as well as doing studio recording work. Her work has appeared on the soundtracks of movies such as Dick Tracy and The Secret of Roan Inish, as well as numerous other recordings.
